My brother is staying put...and so are we. It's a wait and see game. If things begin to turn towards being catastrophic in Orlando, we're also ready to leave at a moments notice.
Got plenty of libations on hand to drink and tons of gallon bags filled with water in the freezer. Full propane tank and gas grill with side burner for cooking and our cabinets are full.
As the storm gets closer, but still days away decided to go straight to the source for survival advice. I've made a few friends since moving here but only a couple of really close ones. One of them has lived here her entire life and couldn't think of a better person to ask for advice. Dang, she had some awesome tips I hadn't even thought about. Massey and I went out and bought every single thing she suggested, luckily finding them all. My friend was at her own house, unpacking all her survival items. Guess if you've lived in Orlando for fifty years you have a closet just for hurricane survival storage!
Luckily we have renter's insurance so not really worried about the house. If the guy who owns it is worried, he's more than welcome to come over and board up. We'll drag everything inside and simply hunker down. I heard on the local Orlando news today, that as of now, their best advice is to just stay off the roads.
We can do that.
I had today off and got a lot of stuff done and in place. I work tomorrow night and then a day shift on Friday. I'm off on Saturday but scheduled to close on Sunday. I'm thinking that Sunday shift may be a No Go.
Mother Nature is a mighty beast with a mind of her own and sometimes really bad PMS. We're just gonna hope we catch her in a good mood.
Are we worried?
Yes.
Are we going to freak?
Not yet.
I'm more worried about being a 'hot flashing' victim of a woman living with no air conditioning for any amount of time.
You gotta have priorities.
Wish us luck!
Till next time...COTTON
